Africa and Europe: A necessary partnership in a multipolar world

The legacy of a troubled Africa-Europe relationship still lingers today. But as both continents grow increasingly marginalized in a changing world, two recent books make the case for closer cooperation: a renewed partnership that would serve their common interest, and the world’s.

On October 8, Loïc De Cannière and John Vandaele will briefly set out their views on EU-Africa relations, and where they are or should be heading, based on their recently published books, “the future of employment in Africa”, and “Can Congo save the world?”.

Paulus Geraedts (DG INTPA, European Commission) will provide feedback and present the Commission’s new “Global Gateway” approach to Europe-Africa relations. The debate will be skilfully moderated by Mesgana Giovanni.
